From the President Dec. 19 2019

We are small and mighty. We are a part of something much larger than ourselves. We accomplish a lot.

On Sunday we held our annual Hanukkah latke party. Special appreciation to Jane Durango for organizing the party and to Josh Genser for organizing the men of TBH to do the cooking. All the volunteers are noted elsewhere in this week’s update.

Also…

Temple Beth Hillel, in collaboration with many other Contra Costa faith communities, provided support to four hundred families with children attending elementary schools in Richmond and San Pablo.

For those among us who haven’t yet heard, Food For Thought is a project that began at Temple Beth Hillel to help families who lose the support of school meals during winter break. Each family receives a box of nonperishable foods, a box of fresh produce, a box of bread items, educational and plush toys and a turkey.

I wish I could thank all the volunteers here by name, but there are too many (which is a good thing), and I would leave out someone who contributed. So I wish to thank Temple Beth Hillel. Some of us helped pack the boxes, some of us helped deliver the food, some of us donated money, some of us helped with the planning, some of us put Food For Thought in touch with someone who could donate food. . ..in other words darn near all of us helped in one way or another.

It takes a village to raise a child. We are a part of the village of West Contra Costa County.

Thank you, thank us all. We did something wonderful this week, and….

We are what we do.
