From the President-Oct. 3, 2019

Here we are in the Days of Awe. The Book of Life for 5780 has been written, and we have these days to make ourselves right with G-d, right with ourselves.

Before Yom Kippur passes, it is important to take a moment to thank all those who are making this Rosh Hashanah so special.

Thank you to Cantor Shayndel Adler for stepping into our community at this most sacred moment, and amazing everyone with her joyous singing, her inspiring knowledge and her sweet presence. Rabbi Dean Kertesz as always leads our prayers and offers insight from our sages of blessed memory.

The Choir, working with Leaders Shayndel Adler and Maggie Jacobs, helped raise our songs above this world. Thank you Dana Myer, Suzanne Nelson, Mercedes Cohen, Michael Cohen, and Pat Trumbull.

All High Holy Days services are organized thanks to the hard work of the Ritual Committee: Jane Durango, Alan Marks, Carl Nelson, Maggie Jacobs, and Michael Cohen.

Thanks to our Torah readers Carl Nelson and Sam Rosenbaum.

David Brown honors us by blowing the Shofar.

And thanks to Josh and Elaine Genser for their hospitality once again hosting our Holiday Get-Together.

Thanks to all who read during the service.

Thanks also to:

Sid and Valerie Levy for flower arrangements.

Mercedes & Michael Cohen, Jane Kaasa, and Jane & Pablo Durango for delicious challot and cakes.

Olga Gonzales for setup and cleanup.

Rebecca Mayberry for childcare.

Arlene Lisby for handling myriads of details.

Arlene Lisby & Larry Fox for greeting the community at the door.

David Brown for security.

And thanks to everyone who joined the Temple Beth Hillel community to pray for a better year.  We did it together.

We are what we do.
