Cantorial Soloist Marney Margules, is a classically trained mezzo-soprano whose love of Jewish prayer and music began with her Bat Mitzvah at Conservative Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El in Wynnewood, PA. Marney sang for a number of years at Sutton Place Synagogue in New York City as section leader in their choir. For the past 30 years Marney has been a soloist, choir member and congregant at Congregation Rodef Sholom in San Rafael, CA where her husband is Cantor.
In addition to leading prayer in the synagogue, Marney is a dynamic performer and has engaged in numerous opera, lieder, Broadway, cabaret and concert productions throughout the Bay Area. Through her love of Jewish Music she has created concert programs in Yiddish, Ladino and Hebrew, most recently “LOVE SONGS & LULLABIES”, a collection of jewish songs from around the world.
Marney joined the Temple Beth Hillel community in June of 2022. She brings spirituality, empathy, enthusiasm and joy through her leadership of the prayer experience and looks forward to connecting with Rabbi Dean and Temple Beth Hillel’s community. Marney lives in San Rafael, CA with her husband Cantor David Margules, and enjoys spending time with their children: Benny and Danielle, granddaughter Ava and doggy, Lulu.
