Ha’azinu – Deuteronomy 32:1 – 32:52, The Parashat Ha Shavua for Shabbat, Saturday, October 12, 2019

This coming Shabbat is our first Shabbat after Yom Kippur. After our serious self-examination and commitment to making positive change and returning to our authentic self we read these words in this week’s Torah portion, “Take to heart all the words with which I have warned you this day. Enjoin them upon your children, that they may observe faithfully all the terms of this Teaching. For this is not a trifling thing for you: it is your very life…” (Deuteronomy 32:46-47)

They serve as a reminder that our spiritual work, if it is real, is a serious thing and the commitment to living an examined life and a life of change and growth is what makes our lives worth living. Shannah tovah.
