Attention families with young children, their grandparents, and special friends, The Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay is distributing – free of charge – age-appropriate Jewish-content books and music on a monthly basis to families with children from ages 6 months to age 5½ years old through a new program called The PJ Library .
Created and supported by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation in Massachusetts , The PJ Library is funded nationally in partnership with local philanthropists and organizations. In the East Bay , the Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay has partnered with the Jim Joseph Foundation as the primary funder of this innovative program.
Each participating child/family will receive a high quality Jewish children’s book or CD every month, through age six. Each book comes with resources to help families use the selection in their homes. The foremost children’s book experts have selected the book and music list, which includes a wide array of themes related to Jewish holidays, folktales and Jewish family life.
