Looking for work is hard-doing it by yourself is even harder
JFCS/East Bay is pleased to announce a new, free five-part workshop that will offer techniques, resources, and the support necessary for a successful job search. Topics will include:
• Managing change and transition, getting organized and setting goals.
• Dealing with expectations, frustration, and anxiety.
• Identifying your skills and attributes, learning how to talk about yourself, and researching the job market.
• Writing resumes and cover letters, exploring the world of networking, and preparing for interviews.
• Following through, keeping up the search, and keeping up spirits.
Group facilitators: Libby Granett, MS, is JFCS/East Bay’s director of human resources and operations. She has sixteen years’ experience as a career counselor in the nonprofit, education, and business worlds. Valerie Rosenfield, MSW, is a JFCS/East Bay therapist, specializing in areas of life planning.
Date: Mondays, March 2 through 30

The PJ Library – Free Jewish Books and Music for Young Children
Attention families with young children, their grandparents, and special friends, The Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay is distributing – free of charge – age-appropriate Jewish-content books and music on a monthly basis to families with children from ages 6 months to age 5½ years old through a new program called The PJ Library .
Created and supported by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation in Massachusetts , The PJ Library is funded nationally in partnership with local philanthropists and organizations. In the East Bay , the Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay has partnered with the Jim Joseph Foundation as the primary funder of this innovative program.
Each participating child/family will receive a high quality Jewish children’s book or CD every month, through age six. Each book comes with resources to help families use the selection in their homes. The foremost children’s book experts have selected the book and music list, which includes a wide array of themes related to Jewish holidays, folktales and Jewish family life.
